Hello neighbors! For those new to the VDM community, please allow a brief introduction: My husband Manuel and I have lived in VDM since 2010 & have been active in various aspects of our community since then.  I was appointed to the Board in 2010 due to unexpected Board resignations & successfully ran for re-election thru 2020. I did not run for re-election in 2021, having been Board president from 2017 - 2020 - I took a much needed break. I am proud of the many accomplishments during my 10 years, especially the numerous community meetings for major landscaping changes: removing/replacing hundreds of bushes, trees, grasses, 80% of home fronts, palms, etc. All those landscaping improvement projects utilized our community Reserve funds. During that time, the Board changed important vendors: management, security, landscape; repaved CDS; replaced driveways, walkway and driveway trees due to tree root damage. All these changes/improvements were guided by your concerns, ideas, complaints, and involvement. With the Boards’ changes since 2021, there has been concern and frustration over changing priorities, and with continuing to have only Zoom/phone-in Board meetings. These are my priorities should you elect me again to our Board: > Restart in-person meetings. Face-to-face meetings with neighbors go a long way to increase good will, alleviate misunderstandings, and encourage involvement with our neighbors; > Increase transparency & communication between the Board and our community: move the "Open Forum" portion of meetings to the 1st agenda item so the Board can hear your comments before making decisions; > Monitor & improve the quality of landscaping vendor's work, and explore alternatives to our existing contracts. As always, I will listen to you, your ideas, complaints, and even compliments!  I have always appreciated your trust in me, and again ask for your support.  Thanks very much.  Marlene  mcannova@sbcglobal.net
